Photographer and Schomberg resident Tom Wray was eager to open his new gallery, called Images of Photographic Art, to the public Saturday.

The gallery is in the heart of Main Street. As well, it’s his home.

“I had renovations done to the front of my home, creating two rooms in which my photographs are displayed,” Wray said.

Wray has also had his work shown at restaurants and other sites around the township.

“I have also traveled around with my work,” he commented.

Wray has lived in Schomberg with his wife Mara for 30 years, and he said he didn’t know of any other place to open up a gallery.

“The whole township is wonderful, but Schomberg especially,” Wray said.

As for people in Schomberg, he thinks there a lot who will be interested in talking art.

“I have already experienced people coming up to me and talking to me about my photographs, especially younger crowds who are thinking of taking up photography,” he commented.

Wray’s early venture into photography began when he studied Audio Visual Arts at Humber College. His interest was piqued many years later with the introduction of the digital camera. He has embraced this new technology with passion, building on his solid foundation of photographic techniques.

“I have come to learn that photography is my main passion,” Wray said.
