KTHS will unveil Web site at AGM Feb. 14

Exciting activities are on the 2010 agenda for the King Township Historical Society (KTHS).

A brand new KTHS Web site is being designed to make King’s history accessible to internet users, and the public is invited to enjoy and celebrate events of the past that will come alive.

The 400th anniversary of the arrival of French settlers in Upper Canada will receive special attention as an important milestone in the development of modern Ontario. Already in progress is the One-Room Schoolhouse research, which will be linked to information from the Archives and the King Township Museum.

Introduction of the new Web site will be a feature of the Society’s Annual General Meeting, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. at the King Seniors’ Centre on Fisher Street in King City. Following the 12:30 pot-luck luncheon, the meeting promises a look back to 2009 and a glimpse forward to 2010, highlighting the main projects and programs on the Society’s agenda.

In the spring, there will be a talk on famous equestrian triumphs by King’s outstanding horses and riders; another will describe how genealogy opens windows to family history, and two programs in the fall will be devoted to the experiences of a Second World War prisoner of war and a fascinating collection of artifacts from the First World War.

Everyone is welcome to attend the Historical Society’s AGM; prospective members are invited to sample the friendly and innovative atmosphere of King Township’s keepers of heritage lore.
