February is here, with activities to stir the blood, and to warm heart and soul.

This Friday and Saturday, youth from Grades 3 to 12 join others at St. Paul’s, Midhurst, for a sleepover, and to go tubing at Snow Valley on Saturday. the cost $10, plus $20 for tubing.

Young people from the Jamming Group at St Mary Magdalene’s, Schomberg, with some from All Saints’, host a Soup Dinner fundraiser for Haiti at Nobleton Arena, this Sunday (Feb. 7) at 5:30 p.m. Have dinner and support a good cause. Bishop George Elliott recently thanked All Saints’ for prayer for Haiti, noting that the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund has sent 100 per cent of donations, matched currently by Canada.

Join book clubbers Wednesdays from 10:30 to noon, as we discuss a storyteller’s spiritual Wizard of Oz journey, from The Yellow Brick Road. Enter by east (office) door.

Sundays, try us out at 8 a.m. in the chapel, or at 10:30 in the sanctuary, to enjoy the pipe organ and choir, with nursery and Sunday school. Refreshments follow at noon. Feb. 14, come for a tasty breakfast at 9 a.m. sharp, after 8 a.m. Morning Prayer.

Valentine’s Sunday (Feb. 14), we look forward to a visit from Newmarket’s Voices of Joy choir at 10:30 a.m., as they sing for us, and surround us with their love.

Our annual Pancake Supper is Shrove Tuesday (Feb. 16), from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $15 per family, $5 per person, and those under age five are free. Bring your neighbours.

Ash Wednesday (Feb. 17) begins the Easter journey with Lent, from the verb to lengthen, as days get longer. Children may miss school to carpool to Schomberg parish in Lloydtown, from 9 to 3:30, for activities related to this High and Holy Day of Christian faith.

Tuesday evening, join a home Alpha group, starting at 6:30 p.m. for dessert and a short DVD to discuss Jesus Christ and life’s meaning. RSVP to Judith at (905) 833- 5785.

A Scottish Ceilidh is planned for Feb. 26. It will offer warm Scottish fare and haggis to the community at 6:30 p.m., along with a piper, and a Scottish caller for highland dancing. This will be fun for all the family. The cost will be $20 each for adults and $5 for children.

Last Friday’s delightful voice recital and organ concert resonated in the rafters. Do visit All Saints’ Anglican Church at www.allsaintskingcity. com (click on Concerts), so you don’t miss musicians March 5, and the Elora Festival Singers, Mar. 26, at 8 p.m.

Thought for your week — God is like dial soap. Aren't you glad you have Him. don't you wish everyone did?

Well, there goes January, and Groundhog Day. Did he or didn't he? Winter is half over. Can spring be far behind? Don't forget to buy your Valentine a card.

Mark your calendar for March 19. We are planning our Irish Dinner again. We have some new entertainment this year. Come hungry and enjoy.

Our sanctuary was warmed Sunday with a huge arrangement of red roses in memory of our dear Mary Orr. She touched every one of us in her own gentle way. God Bless you, Mary. Rosemary’s choir sang that beautiful old anthem In the Garden, which was one of Mary's favourites.

The United Church of Canada celebrates it’s 185th anniversary this year June 6 For our local congregations it will be held in Schomberg Arena. Please consider attending.

Bible challenge 3 this week will be reading Nehemiah 4-10 Friday at 1030 a.m.

Pastor Bob's reflection next week will be Changing Jobs, based on Luke 5 1-11.

Please pick up your yearend receipts. Did you pick up your copy of the Annual Report? Read through it this week so you will be prepared for our annual meeting this Sunday (Feb 7) after worship. It is imperative you attend this meeting as we join together to work out our challenges for this year.

Amazing Race 2010 — Daniela and Serena are looking for helpers. Would you be interested in being a host home? The date will be finalized soon. If you can help in any way, leave your name with the church office and it will be passed on.

Our next UCW meeting is Feb. 17. The program subject is "A Heart Warming Story." Do you have one to share? It will be at 1:30 p.m. in the parlour. We love to have visitors.

Please hold the people of Haiti in your prayers. We see so many pictures of the devastation, starvation and looting. Then along comes another one of the miracles of a rescue, and the orphans finding their homes in Canada. We will continue to pray for them.

February is here and that means the Winter Blues Beater series is fast approaching.

St. Andrew's invites the community to our upcoming Winter Blues Beater series entitled Takin' Care of Business three consecutive Wednesday evenings in February at 7:30 p.m, starting Feb. 10. Join us for dessert and then enjoy our guest speakers who can help us take care of the lives we’ve been given. The topic Feb. 10 will be Takin’ Care of Our Finances with Tom Caldwell from Caldwell Securities. The Feb. 17 talk will be on Takin’ Care of our Teens with Paul Robertson of Youth Unlimited. The Feb. 24 topic will be Takin’ Care of our Bodies with fitness expert and author Kimberley Payne. Invite your neighbours and friends to hear these experts. Pastor Chris Carter addressed Understanding Authority by looking at Matthew 8:5-13 this past Sunday. His sermon series entitled As One with Authority will lead us up to Lent. Chris invites us “to come and learn at the feet of Jesus as we realize that Jesus is the One with Authority.”

The King Bible Church Overtimers (Seniors) invite you to our next meeting Feb. 9 at noon sharp. It’s a Valentines Celebration. Please bring your own sandwich (dessert provided), and a valentine’s card. All ages are warmly welcomed.

Feb. 17, we’ll be attending the Famous People Players Theatre in Toronto for another popular blacklight stage production. The cost is $75 and includes a lunch and dessert.

March 6, we’re off to Theatre Orangeville to see the comedy show Freedom Eighty-Five. The cost is $70 and includes lunch.
