Hppy Times Euchre Club returns for another season

Happy Times Euchre Club Submitted by Shirley Stonehouse

The Happy Times Euchre Club is back playing euchre for the 2009/2010 season.

The first day of play was Oct. 7 with a new start time of 1:15 p.m.

All are welcome whether you are a senior or not. We’ve added something new - we keep an overall score of who has the most lone hands so that there is only one winner at the end of the day for lone hands. Our prizes for both women and men stay the same, as well as paying out a loonie for low score in both categories. Instead of drawing a card to break a tie, we’ll split the winnings between the two scores.

Here are the results for the first day of play.

Colleen Coulter was first among the ladies, followed by Margaret Mulgrew, Doreen Matson and Shirley Kitchen. Mildred Jessop took the loonie for low score and the lucky draw was won by Mary Hammett.

On the men’s cards, the top player was Len Cairns, followed by Blake Coulter, Marjorie Williamson and Arnold Rodgers. Irene Palmer took the loonie and the winner of the lucky draw was John Banks.

There was a tie for most lone hands, so Annie Hill and Len Cairns split the prize money.

Share The Wealth tickets were won by Len Cairns and Blanche Crane.
