Application for compost facility withdrawn

Integrated Municipal Services has withdrawn its application to create a compost facility just north of Schomberg, near Concession 3 of Bradford West Gwillimbury (BWG) and County Road 27.

Integrated had wanted to set up a regional composting centre at 1760 County Road 27 and submitted an applications to the Town of BWG last fall which was being fiercely opposed by local residents from New Tecumseth, BWG and King.

The town has now received a letter from Integrated which states they are withdrawing their proposal due to monetary reasons.

The town will now close its file on the application. If IMS has any interest in re-initiating the proposal in the future, they will be required to submit new applications, said Geoff McKnight, planning and development director.

Councillor Barbara Huson, who represents the residents near the site in New Tecumseth, welcomed the news and said she had e-mailed all the residents who had contacted about the withdrawal.
