King pedestrian killed on Highway 11 The York Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating an accident Monday night in the northern portion of King which claimed the life of a pedestrian. Police report Daniel Orantes, 24, of King Township, was walking east in the eastbound traffic lanes of Highway 11, south of Bradford, at about 10:20 p.m. He was struck by an eastbound Jeep Grand Cherokee, then he was hit again by another eastbound vehicle which left the scene. Police are actively searching for this vehicle and urge the driver to contact them. Police said most accidents involving pedestrians are preventable. Following basic rules of pedestrian safety, such as making sure drivers see you before you cross the road and wearing bright or light-coloured clothing when walking at dusk or in darkness, is key to reducing the number of incidents. The investigation is continuing and police are seeking witnesses to this collision.
