Come out for King Blooms Day

The Nobleton community is going to be gathering this Saturday morning for a clean-up of litter in the area, but that's not all that's planned.

Things will start on the lawn of the Nobleton branch of the King Township Public Library at 9 a.m., and that will be the kick-off off king Blooms Day.

There will be a morning full of presentations, and people are invited to chose the one they want to take in, or attend them all.

The 9:30 presentation will be on attracting birds, and it will be given by award-winning naturalized gardener Phil Chadwick and Kevin Shackleton, president of the West Humber Naturalists Society.

That will be followed at 10:15 by a session on pruning trees and shrubs, with the presentation being given by Ruurd van De Ven, an arborist with Arbor Valley Urban Forestry Inc.

No More Turf Wars will be the topic of the 11 a.m. presentation, to be given by Cathy Wall, project manager of Quality Seeds.

The last session will be at 11:45, and will feature Laura Shapton, Well Aware program coordinator, who will talk about healthy wells.

Admission is free, but donations will be welcome.
