No shortage of litter to be picked up at WALK event

The War Against Litter in King (WALK) resumed Saturday, as about 35 people showed up at the parking lot at the interchange of Highways 9 and 400 for the community clean-up. Organizer Mel VanSickle said it was the best turn-out in three years, and that was fitting, because there was a lot of litter to be picked up.Kettleby area resident Renee Lozzi, 10, had the bag at the ready for her father Massimo to put garbage in.

WALK organizer Mel VanSickle even found some garbage in the parking lot to pick up.
Emma Pellegrini marked her eighth birthday by pitching in her efforts to cleaning up.
This was the second community cleanup Mayor Margaret Black had been to that day (top). King City Secondary School student Jessica Rose was concentrating on finding recyclable items (left).
Councillor Bill Cober and his five-and-a-half year old daughter Taylor were helping to collect all the litter.
