As you college and university students struggle to finish papers, write exams, visit job fairs and make summer or future plans, we encourage you to aim for God's highest.

This Sunday (April 20), kids under 12 meet for their breakfast at 9 a.m., for Bagels and Bags of Fun. Wear an old T-shirt as we will be painting a new altar frontal filled with flames and doves for Pentecost. Worship with us beforehand at the 8 a.m. Eucharist in the Chapel, or stay afterward for the 10:30 a.m. service in the Sanctuary. We offer nursery supervision, Sunday school, and refreshments following the service.

The video series continues Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. on Philip Yancey's book What's So Amazing about Grace? Come in by the east (office) door, make new friends and discover how God shows us grace, and then discuss ways to carry this grace to others.

This weekend, some of our members are attending the Prayer Retreat at the Convent of the Sisters of St. John the Divine. Retreats are a wonderful way to find refreshment and relaxation in our busy lives. See the Convent's Web site at www.ssjd.ca/retreats.html for details of their many retreats open to everyone.

The church indoor cleanup is coming April 26, from 9 a.m. to noon. Bring your enthusiasm to spring clean the whole church, and pitch in with your cleaning tools- enjoy working together, and sharing the donuts and coffee provided.

Abig thank you is extended to the community for helping to make Saturday's rummage sale such a success. We hope you found your own hidden treasure.

May 6, our youth group will be coming around in the evening to collect for the King Township Food Bank. Next week, we'll tell you exactly what the Food Bank needs so that you can purchase an item or two that recipients will appreciate.

News from the Pews

Our Confirmation Service was a wonderful, moving, spiritual experience, hearing nine young people professing their faith. Welcome to our United Church Family - Leona and Mary Balsdon, Emma and Josh Caruso, Karen Edmunds, Dean and Denis Orr, and Hunter and Nicole Weston. We appreciate their interest in the faith and work of our church. The closing Hymn was One more step along the World I Go. How fitting.

Thank you to Rev. Shawn Kennedy, chaplain at the Woodbine Race Track, for being with us Sunday while Rev. Chris Carter was at St. Paul's, Nobleton to conduct a Baptism. The Sermon entitled He just had to go through Samaria was most informative and inspiring. It was noted how well it complemented our Book Study based on John Ortberg's book, If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat.

We'll be looking at chapter 3 this Sunday (April 20) at 9:15 a.m. Join us over coffee. Speak to Chris if you need a book.

The Youth Group, ages 11 to 16, will also be meeting Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Pete McAskile will have DVDs depicting sport celebrities sharing their thoughts on what it is to be a Christian. Why not come out and see what they have to say? Should be fun and informative.

During our Sunday worship service, April 20, the ordination of our new elders, Dirk deRoos and Bill Patterson, will take place. This service is at 10:30 a.m. with Sunday school and nursery care provided. We welcome you to join us.

Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. is Prayer and Praise, open to all.

Mark your calendars for May 3; the WMS Oak Ridges Presbyterial's spring meeting at St. Andrew's, Beeton, from 9:15 a.m. until noon. The guest speaker will be Lori Ransom, who will talk on native peoples of Guatemala and Canada. Speak to Bonnie Mooney for more information.

May 10 is Breakfast with Mom at 9:30 a.m. for mothers and daughters. The youth-aged girls, along with cooks Jodie Patterson and Allison Agar, will be the hosts. Tickets are $5 and $3 for girls under 10 years of age. There will also be an opportunity to donate toward the Sunday school's World Vision Foster Child.

May 25 at 7:30 p.m. will be our annual Showers of Blessing, a special time of worship and praise through music. Want to participate? Call Kathy Patterson at (905) 833-0391.

May 27 at 7:30 p.m. will be a fund-raiser evening for Auxiliary and Missions - A Tupperware Party. More details to follow.

For more information, prayer or praise items, or if a ride is needed to any of these events, call the church office at (905) 833-2325.
