Midget Red Wing hosts take local league tourney

The Schomberg local league midget Red Wings took on all comers at the tournament they hosted over the holidays, and came out on top.

The tournament opened with the Wings taking on one of two teams from Newmarket. It wasn't much of a contest, as the hosts took the match 7-0.

Their next encounter was against the club from Barrie, and this affair was a bit closer, but the Wings were able to prevail 5-4.

That set up the championship match, in which Schomberg squared off against the entry from Penetang. The Penetang crew made it to the championship match with a 5-3 win at the expense of the TNT crew, then they blanked the team from Oshawa 2-0.

The final match was not much of a contest, as the Wings beat Penetang 6-3.
