York Regional Police Services Board release their new business plan The Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board have announced the release of the 2008-2010 Business Plan for York Regional Police. "This is a comprehensive and ambitious road map for policing services in York Region for the next three years," said Police Services Board Chairman Danny Wheeler. "It builds on our successes and allows us to focus on serving our communities in the most efficient and effective manner." The new business plan was developed through extensive consultation with York Region residents, community partners and York Regional Police members. It involved 12 public forums, analyzed the results of 10,000 Community Survey responses and held 10 planning workshops with members. The goals and strategies are seen as reflecting community needs and concerns and ensure that police achieve their vision of "Making a Difference in our Community," according to a media release recently issued by police. During the next three years, York Regional Police will address the top community concerns as identified in the 2007 Community Survey: Violent crime, guns and gangs, traffic safety, crimes against property and drug control and enforcement. York Region residents will see continued emphasis on communication to the community, including the availability of police information in different languages. Police will continue to enforce quality service standards and ensure that police operations are conducted in a fiscally, socially and environmentally-responsible manner. "The goals and strategies in this plan reflect our commitment to ensuring that we provide the highest quality of service to the citizens of York Region," said Chief Armand La Barge.
