Two dead in accident near Schomberg

South Simcoe Police are investigating a double fatality which occurred on County Road 27 (formerly Highway 27), just north of Highway 9 in Bradford - West Gwillimbury last Wednesday, shortly before noon.

Police report that a Kia Rio was northbound when the car apparently went out of control, crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck by a southbound Pontiac 6000. The force if the impact caused the Kia to flip on its roof before coming to rest.

The driver of the Kia, Domenico Rubino, 59, of Toronto, was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical doctor. The female driver of the Pontiac was airlifted to Sunnybrooke Health Sciences Centre in Toronto and later died of her injuries. She was identified as Teresa Kasepchuk, 26, of Minden. Two female passengers in the Pontiac were taken to hospital in Newmarket with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Police were able to confirm that one of the passengers in the Pontiac was pregnant at the time of the collision, but it does not appear the unborn child sustained any injuries.

Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to call the lead investigator, Constable Max Brown at (905) 775-3311 ext. 2016.
