Register on-line for the King City Youth Soccer Club

The King City Youth Soccer Club is entering the computer age.

Registration for this 2008 outdoor season will be done on-line.

The soccer club, with the ongoing increase in youth players, as well as the addition of men's and women's adult soccer, has grown to about 600 registrants. In previous years, all registrations were done on paper forms, making the administration effort formidable for the volunteer members of the executive. The answer was to sign up the registration software managed by I.T. Sportsnet, the same registration application that is being used by other soccer clubs in the province as well as the NobleKing Hockey Association.

"This new process allows us to better manage the large amount of information generated by registration," commented Susan Teskey, president of the soccer club.

The on-line application will also afford the club the opportunity to solicit volunteers for the various positions, such as coaches, conveners and other muchneeded executives. During the registration process, applicants are asked if they are available to help out with the club.

In previous seasons, the club operated two weekends of in-person registration, held in the local community centre. In order to assist with the introduction of the new system, club staff were available at the community centre Feb. 23, and will be again March 29, equipped with computers to walk people through the registration steps.

Based on registration to date, the club is pleased with the acceptance of the new process. The degree of acceptance is likely due to the fact that the identical system has been in place for local hockey and is already familiar to the parents. In fact, families registered in hockey can use the same email address and password for soccer. Soccer registration is accessed through the club's Web site a t www.kingcityyouthsoccer.c om

The future of soccer in King City is bright, with growing numbers and growing interest in all age groups. The new registration system is one way of making the administrative component more efficient, so the volunteers can focus their energies on the soccer part of the program.
