York Regional Police holds female recruiting session for Women's Day

In recognition of International Women's Day, which was Saturday, the York Regional Police Recruiting Unit is inviting women who are interested in a career in policing to an information session this coming Tuesday (March 18).

It will run from 7 until 9 p.m. at the City of Vaughan council chambers located at 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr. West.

This event will provide details regarding a unique and rewarding opportunity to become a police constable, along with the process, qualifications and benefits of joining York Regional Police.

York Region is of one of the fastest-growing communities in Canada and the police are keeping pace by actively recruiting candidates of the highest calibre who represent all its diverse communities.

The necessary qualifications include being a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada; at least 18 years of age; physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position, having regard for the officer's own safety and the safety of members of the public; be of good moral character and habits; and successfully completed at least four years of secondary school or equivalent.

Interested applicants are asked to bring their resumes.

All residents are welcome, including those from the diverse communities. Police will have officers on hand who speak Mandarin, Farsi and Russian to assist.
