All Saints' Anglican Church

Submitted by Claire Alexander

As spring approaches, gather outside the church at 10:30 a.m. to enjoy the Palm Sunday procession of palms, this Sunday (March 16). The regular chapel service meets at 8 a.m., followed at 9 by the monthly breakfast, Bagels and Bags of Fun, for children under 12.

During Holy Week, come Maundy Thursday (March 20), at 7 p.m. (note time change), as symbolic foot washing is re-enacted, recalling how Jesus washed the disciples' feet before the Last Supper, and left us a commandment to love one another.

For the March 21 Good Friday joint service among the churches, at 10:30 a.m., All Saints' welcomes as guest preacher Rev. Bob Biggar of King City United Church.

Observe the ecumenical Easter Vigil Saturday evening (March 22), in the unusual and beautiful setting of L'Arche Daybreak Community at 8 p.m. at 11339 Yonge St. (east side), in Richmond Hill. Or meet at All Saints' at 7:30 p.m., to carpool with others.

Together as a community, experience the wonder and the joy of the original Resurrection morning, early Easter Sunday (March 23), after the sun rises. Rev. Chris Carter of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church invites families and friends to the short Easter Sunday sunrise service at 7 a.m. (13190 Keele St., two blocks north of King Road). Some years we even stand outside, so wear good footwear.

Let's sing "Jesus Christ is risen today, Hallelujah!" and pass on Easter joy over a continental breakfast, or leave in time to join the 8 a.m. service at All Saints'.

At 10:30 a.m., Easter Sunday, enjoy the choral celebration of the Resurrection at All Saints', and the warm welcome of Rev. Nicola Skinner, when a nursery is available. If you haven't felt free to return to church for some time, do come! Holy Communion is open to all baptized Christians. Stay to introduce yourself, and meet new friends over refreshments.

Next Tuesday (March 18), meet for the final Lenten discussion with Skinner at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Room.

KAIROS will host a candlelit meditation at All Saints', from 7:45 to 9 p.m., for Earth Hour 2008, March 29. Be responsible about our carbon footprint, as lights are dimmed around the world. See www.earthhour.org, or www.thestar.com/earthhour.

The famous rummage sale will be April 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drop in to help sort Tuesdays, from 9 until noon.

All Saints' Anglican Church, at 12935 Keele St. in King City, is a few doors south of King Road. The church office is open Tuesday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you know of a need, or would like Communion taken to someone, contact Rev. Skinner at (905) 833-5432, or e-mail allsaints@eol.ca. Visit the Web site at www.allsaintskingcity. com

What a beautiful Sunday we experienced, sore muscles and inconveniences aside.

Not only did we see the results of snowfall records, but St. Andrew's saw its congregation move together to the front of the sanctuary (even the "back benchers"), where a great turnout enjoyed an enthusiastic worship time.

We welcome you to join us some Sunday or at any of the following services/events. Sunday Worship is at 10:30 a.m. with Sunday school and nursery care provided.

The Easter services are as follows: Palm Sunday (March 16) at 10:30 a.m.; Maundy Thursday Service (March 20) at 7:30 p.m.; Good Friday Service (March 21) is at All Saints' Anglican Church at 10 a.m.; Easter Sunrise Service (March 23) is at St, Andrew's at 7 a.m., and our Easter Service is at 10:30 a.m.

Prayer and Praise meets in the pastor's study at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays. The Busy Moms Group enjoyed their visit to the Sugarbush at Bruce's Mills Friday; a great way to start the March break.

We'll keep you posted on future outings and Bible Studies.

A special event is coming May 4 at the Toronto Chinese Community Church in Markham. Marriage coaches Dr. Gary and Barbara Rosberg are on a national tour and will be presenting After Happily Ever After - the Adventure of a Lasting Marriage. See Chris or Andrea Wappel, or call the church at (905) 833- 2325 to reserve a spot. This evening will put a fresh spin on what it means to enjoy the adventure of marriage.

Call the church should you have any questions, concerns, prayer or praise items, or if a ride is needed.
