News from the Pews Good News - Bad News

Weren't you pleasantly surprised when you picked up your turkey pies and found they were only $2.50 each, not $2.75? Our ladies, organized by Sheila Jarvis, made 162 and there are still about 72 orders to fill.

Bad news - Last week, we announced the tickets for the Irish Dinner were $15 each and $25 for family of four. Oops! That didn't compute! Would you rent two kids for $5 off? Correction! Tickets are $15 each and $35 for a family of four. Get your tickets early before they are sold out. The dinner will be March 14 at 5:30 p.m. in our church auditorium. The entertainment sounds terrific, with the Newmarket School of Irish Dance troupe and the Wellington Session - authentic Irish pipes, violin and keyboard. Call (905) 833-5181 for tickets. Watch for posters around town.

Our Pastor Bob invites everyone to accept The Bible Challenge reading.

The syllabus is available any time. Just ask the Church office. The sharing time is Sundays at 3:30 p.m. in the parlour.

We are very lucky to enjoy the wonderful variety of anthems presented to us by our bells and chimes group, led by Dorothy Gillies. They deserve a lot of praise. Thanks to all. We also have some wonderfully talented Sunday school leaders. Bring your children to hear some great Bible stories and join a group of enthusiastic youngsters for crafts and lots of music with the Kennedy Family.

We are located at 50 Elizabeth Grove in King City. Services are at 10 a.m. Sundays with Sunday school and nursery. If you would like prayers said or need a ride just contact us. Our doors are always open. Come, be blessed, and be a blessing. The Church office can be reached at (905) 833- 5181 or by e-mail at kcuc@bellnet.ca

February continues to be a busy and exciting time at St. Andrew's.

Last Sunday, nominations for additional elders were submitted. The AGM was held Monday, and Tuesday evening the Auxiliary and Missions held a special meeting where Karen Palmer, a freelance journalist who spent three years in Africa, showed us her photos and shared interesting stories covering many topics. Karen is a niece of Bonnie Mooney and is writing a book about her time living at a camp for women accused of witchcraft in Northern Ghana.

Prayer and Praise will not be held this Wednesday evening since a special meeting was held Monday before the AGM.

This Sunday (March 2) is Communion Sunday. Our worship service starts at 10:30 a.m. with Sunday school and nursery care provided.

The Renewal Fellowship within the Presbyterian Church in Canada is having their AGM and Renewal Day this Saturday (March 1) from 8:30 a.m to 4 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church in Toronto. The theme speaker is Rev. Dr. David Sherbino, senior minister of Cornerstone Community Church on Nashville Road. The theme is Kneeling Together for the Gospel: a Day of Prayer for Renewal. All are invited for a wonderful, inspirational time.

Call the church office at (905) 833-2325 if you have any questions, prayer requests or need a ride to any of the above events.
