Dinner gala for Brandan's Eye Research Fund The fourth annual dinner and gala in support of Brandan's Eye Research Fund is scheduled for Feb. 2 at the Terrace Banquet Centre in Vaughan. Mayor Margaret Black will be on hand to accept recognition for the fundraising efforts for the fund from her annual golf challenge. As well, Oak Ridges - Markham MP Lui Temelkovski and Vaughan Mayor Linda Jackson are expected to attend. The evening will begin with cocktails and a silent auction at 5 p.m., followed by dinner, speeches, awards and a cheque presentation. Tickets are $125 per person and can be ordered by calling (905) 833-3165. Terrace Banquet Centre is at 1680 Creditstone Rd., in the area of Rutherford Road and Jane Street. Brandan's Eye Research Fund is named after Brandan Cescolini, a King City boy who developed cataracts at the age of three months. His vision was partly restored, and then he developed glaucoma. Despite that, his mother Rosemary said the sevenyear old is able to lead a normal life. Proceeds from the fund go to eye research at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Cescolini said it has become the fastest growing charity for the hospital, raising almost $600,000 in just four years. |
