Mixed numbers result from holiday sales in King
By Jon Yaneff

Several businesses in King area experienced a holiday season increase in sales, while other operations hadn't noticed much of a change from the previous season.

Nobleton Farm Service did fairly well, according to owner Karl Davis, though its business during the holiday season depended mostly on snow to generate sales, as they sold tractors, snow blowers, blades and salters.

Schomberg Hardware owner John Sotnick said weather had also affected the sales at his business as they sold items aimed at helping people with problems around the house, such as snow shovels.

Kathy Vogan of Piety Ridge Primitives said their sales slightly decrease, as people were buying some gifts and less decorations than usual.

Restaurants, such as Daniel's of Nobleton, had about the same business as last year, with gift certificates selling especially well, according to owner Daniel Gilbert.

Dollar N' Party experienced above average sales throughout the holiday season, but again not as high as last year's earnings, Ajmer Sing reported. Its biggest sales came from gift cards, decorations and several different toys.

Other businesses such as The Rose Gallery, were very happy with sales throughout the holiday season.

"It was very good as people came from King City, Schomberg, Aurora, Toronto, as well as Nobleton, so we had good crisp sales from the flow of customers during the holidays," said owner Ron Ivany.
