Free diabetes clinic coming tomorrow
      A Live Well Diabetes Clinic is planned for tomorrow (Thursday) at Nobleton Pharmasave. It will run from 1 until 6 p.m. Diabetes affects one in every 10 people, and half of those with the disease don't even know they have it.

Emmanuel Presbyterian Church holding bake sale and luncheon on Main Street
      Emmanuel Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Schomberg is starting its second century of worship and service to the community with several events and projects of interest to all. A team from the church has been on a medical mission to Nicaragua for 10 days, and they will be telling their story soon.

Firefighters hosting magic show this Saturday
      The King City Firefighters' Association will be sponsoring a fundraiser next Saturday (Nov. 29). It will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at All Saints' Anglican Church on Keele Street in King City. The fun will include a one-hour magic show, starting at 1 p.m., as well as balloons, face painting, refreshments and food for sale and a fire truck for folks to tour.

CanineCuts-Nobelton is the place to get your dog groomed
      Friday saw the grand opening of CanineCuts-Nobleton on Highway 27. The store was packed with people and dogs when Mayor Margaret Black and owner Nikki Roberts cut the ceremonial ribbon to officially open the store for business.

Schomberg Village Association holding tree lighting
      The Schomberg Village Association will be holding a holiday tree lighting ceremony this Saturday. The event will take place outside Dr. Dillane's on Main Street, starting at 5 p.m. Mayor Margaret Black and Councillor Bill Cober will both be on hand, as the Haywood family, winners of the Schomberg Scarecrow competition in September, will do the actual lighting at 5:15 p.m.

Nobleton Community Hall gets its heritage designation
      Last week saw the designation of the Nobleton Community Hall on Old Church Road as a heritage building. The hall is home to both Nobleton's Women's Institute (WI) and Nobleton Lion's Club. Mayor Margaret Black and Councillors Jane Underhill and Jeff Laidlaw, along with representatives from WI and the Lions were on hand for a plaque unveiling at the hall's main entrance.

      Rev. Sheliagh Ashworth took the helm as the new minister of Christ Church Kettleby St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church in Schomberg and St. Alban's Anglican Church in Nobleton recently.

Nobleton on route for 2010 Olympic Torch relay
      Residents of King Township anxious to catch the Olympic Spirit will have the opportunity to see the Olympic Flame in person as it passes through Nobleton Dec. 18, 2009 (Day 50 of 106) toward the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
