KIDS COUNTRY REOPENS IN KING CITY
      Mayor Margaret Black was on hand recently to help officially reopen Kids Country on Keele Street in King City. The store is under the new ownership of Emily Fiorentino, who is seen here with her husband Mario and children Matteo, 8, and Veronica and Erica, 6. The store specializes in clothing for children from newborn to size 16.

Haunted Halloween Evenings at Puck's Farm
      It's Fun Friday and Saturday every week until Nov. 1 at Puck's Farm. Ride the haunted hayride, get lost in the scary maze, or freak out in the spooky barn. For the faint of heart, there are kiddie carnival rides, a merry-go-round, and a fun house. The barn doors creak open at 5 p.m. and the chills and thrills continue until 9 p.m.

Nominations open for Ontario's Outstanding Young Farmer
      Nominations are now open for the 2009 Outstanding Young Farmers' Program within the Ontario region. Nominees may be an individual, couple or managing partner/shareholder of a farm group. To qualify, the nominee must derive a minimum of two-thirds of gross revenue from farming and not have reached the age of 40 as of Jan. 1 in the year of competition.

GREAT TIME TO BE PICKING APPLES
     It's that time of the year again, to get out in the orchards to pick your own apples. That made Pine Farm Orchards on the 16th Sideroad a very busy place over the weekend. For many, it was a family outing. Shaelynn Knowles, 6, and her brother James, 2, of Oak Ridges were having fun spotting and picking their apples.

KEAC planting trees Saturday
      Township councillors last week approved the King Environmental Advisory Committee's (KEAC) plan for a tree planting this Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Jane Street. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
