Small turnout Monday night at OPA information session
      The Ontario Power Authority hosted a public information centre Monday night in King City, but they didn't have many people to distribute information too. One a couple of people signed in. OPA is behind the proposal to establish a natural gas fired peaking generating plant to service electricity needs in northern York Region.

Community has shown that cancer care is a big priority in York Region
      Residents in York Region are resolute that there must have cancer care close to home, and they are making it happen. The Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation has announced that the campaign to build the Regional Cancer Program has reached $40 million, heading toward the $60 million goal.

King councillors approved contract road work
      King councillors recently approved without comment awarding the contract for the pulverizing and reshaping of the 16th Sideroad, a little more than half a kilometre west of Jane Street. In 2008, nine roads were identified for resurfacing.

Council opts for hybrid vehicle as replacement
      King councillors recently approved Township staff's recommendation to replace the facilities maintenance manager's 2000 Ford F150 with a 2009 Ford Escape hybrid. Staff reported the existing vehicle requires a new engine, and quotations to complete this work were approximately $5,000.
