CCKT hears about renewable energy systems from OSEA speaker
      Small community groups, including Concerned Citizens of King Township (CCKT), could get together to come up with a system for an alternative form of sustainable energy. That was a message that members of CCKT heard last week from Roberto Garcia, of marketing and membership services with the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA).

Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign to support King library
      There's nothing like a Tim Hortons chocolate chunk cookie, unless it's smiling! Tim Hortons Smile Cookies will be on sale for $1 (tax excluded) at Nobleton store until Sunday (Sept. 28). The special smiling chocolate chunk cookies have double the meaning because all proceeds from the cookie sales will go toward the Nobleton branch of King Township Public Library.

     Jim Kassam and his wife Nola and James Monteath watched as Mayor Margaret Black, accompanied by Councillor Jeff Laidlaw, cut the chain Saturday to officially open King Automotive Repair Service (KARS).The event also saw a display of classic cars, such as this 1931 Ford, owned by Dave Ball of Nobleton.

Cancer society needs volunteers
      The Canadian Cancer Society, Holland River Unit, is looking for volunteers to sell Pink Ribbons Oct. 4 and 5 for Breast Cancer Awareness Month at local businesses in the Schomberg area. This is a great opportunity for high school students to accumulate community service hours.

Community spirit and bon fire in Schomberg Saturday
      The Schomberg Agricultural Society will be hosting the annual community spirit and bon fire night at the fairgrounds Saturday. The fun will start at 6:30 p.m., and will include pumpkin carving, local entertainers, a 50-50 draw, the Fair Ambassador contest, and plenty of food, prepared by the Schomberg Lions Club.
