Minor bantam Knights play three regular season games Submitted on behalf of the NobleKing Knights minor bantam hockey team. Nov. 8 saw the NobleKing minor bantam Knights square off against the Aurora Tigers for the second time this season. Their first match resulted in a win for the Knights, but this time around the Tigers would come out on top by a score of 3-1. After one period, the score was tied 1- 1. The only Knight goal of the game was an unassisted effort by Marco Mussato. Single goals in the second and third period by the Tigers sealed the fate of the Knights. The following evening, the Knights took on the East Gwillimbury Eagles and came away with a tie. There were no goals in the first period, but early in the second the Eagles connected to pull ahead by one. Robbie Pizzicarola responded later in the period, off a great rush into the offensive zone on the unsuspecting Eagle goalie. In the third, the Eagles score with 4:42 on the clock, but the Knights respond quickly with a breakaway goal by Luke DiMarco. A minute later Thomas Martin scored after stick handling around the Eagles' defence, but with two minutes on the clock the Eagles tie up the game and it ended in a 3-3 draw. The Saturday evening had the Knights facing the Markham Waxers in Markham, and they came away with a win. Late in the first period the Waxers got the first goal, but the Knights came back with a goal by forward Mussato, who scored off the rebound from a hard slap shot by Christian Shortill. In the second period, the Knights scored again with a goal by DiMarco, assisted by Thomas Martin to end he period with the score 2-1 in favor of the Knights. In the third, Mussato scored on the face off and the Knights pull ahead 3-1. Just minutes later, he scored again off a rebound from Robbie Pizzicarola to get his first hat trick of the season. The final goal for the Knights came from Nick Heintzman after a scramble in front of the Waxers' goalie, assisted by George Stepanis and Michael Noblegreen. The Knights won 5-1, benefitting from great goaltending by John Salome, who narrowly missed another shutout. |
