Blazing Fiddles to perform at concert

The King Township Historical Society will hosting the Blazing Fiddles its upcoming Christmas concert.

It will be Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in King City.

By popular demand, the Blazing Fiddles will be back to entertain. This is an ensemble of young musicians with the best of classical credentials blended with award-winning jazz performances. Ali McGregor, Jeff Taylor and Adam Poot say musical destiny has brought them together, and they will be sharing a lively menu of traditional and modern "fiddle" classics, sure to send the audience smiling into that old-fashioned joyful seasonal spirit.

Versatile Poot's accomplishments include the Royal Conservatory of Music classical piano program, symphonic and jazz performance on alto sax, and eight years as organist at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church. He has a teaching studio in Woodbridge. Taylor won a scholarship at age 10, went on to the Royal Conservatory of Music, then entered York University music program, becoming one of York's outstanding jazz players. He teaches too, but focuses on performance. Violinist McGregor plays not only a blazing fiddle, but adds vocal sparkle to the program of traditional arrangements and up-beat melodies.

Tickets will be $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and younger. Cider and treats will follow the concert. To reserve tickets, call (905) 841-5048 or (905) 833-3324. They are also available at the King Township Museum.
