Peewee Red Wings frustrated in finals of their tourney

The Schomberg peewee rep Red Wings spent much of a recent weekend showing their guests who was boss at the Red and White Tournament the local minor hockey association hosted.

The local heroes, sponsored by Biltmore Home Consulting Inc., cruised through their first couple of games in the tourney, but they faced the Bradford Bulldogs in the finals, and were given a tough introduction to reality. Bradford prevailed 7-0 to take home the marbles.

The Red Wings got things off to a fine start Friday afternoon, stoping the Stouffville Clippers 3-1.

Things got even better for the local side Saturday, as dumped the Pickering Panthers 7-1, to earn a place in Sunday's championship encounter.

The Bradford outfit didn't encounter much trouble earning the other berth in the title match either. They opened their play with a 6-1 win over the Coldwater Wildcats, then stopped the Newmarket players 2-0.
