Kettleby Happenings

York Pines remembered the fallen

Teacher Elise Scully was working with students Amy Madleine, Rachel, Molly and Jacqueline on decorations and centre pieces for this Saturday's dinner in support of Country Music School House, at Christ Church in Kettleby.
Bazaar draw winners

The winners of the Christ Church Bazaar draw, held Nov. 3, were Pana Giannou, who won a Brunch for two; Baba Ristana, who won a gourmet gift basket; and S. Bransfield of Aurora, who won the queen-size quilt.

A big thank you to all who came out and supported our successful Bazaar.

York Pines United Church

Marion McGrath greeted the 47 who gathered for worship this Remembrance Sunday at the York Pines.

During the service, the action of remembrance included a hymn entitled Weep for the Dead, the minute of silence, the Legion's words of remembrance, and the singing of O Canada. A display provided by Ernie Rowlands showed items worn or carried by soldiers. These included a helmet, water bottles, a bugle, and a Canadian flag. Many said how affected they were by the Remembrance Day liturgy.

In his message, Rev. Carson spoke about the United For Peace fund that the United Church is inaugurating to help improve the prospects for peace in the Middle East.

This Sunday (Nov. 18), the after-service study group is meeting on the topic Restoring Relationships.

Next Sunday (Nov. 25), there will be a Celebration of the Saints with a focus on St. Andrew. A short play based on some non-biblical stories of St. Andrew will be presented. Scottish foods will be served during the coffee time following church.

Turkey dinner and home-made pies A turkey dinner, with home-made pies, will be held Nov. 17 at Christ Anglican Church, Kettleby.

There will be seatings at 4:30 and 6 p.m. The cost will be $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for children. Entertainment will include Danny and Ingrid from the Forget-Me-Nots, and the Country Music School House (a primary school). Raffles, prizes, and more.
