Sign up to try to be the second Schomberg Idol

The Schomberg Agricultural Society, in cooperation with Music 21 in Bolton, is sponsoring the second annual Schomberg Idol contest.

Aspiring young singers are urged to sign up for this competition, that is aimed at promoting community pride and involvement, the local cultural environment, youth involvement and youth opportunity

The Schomberg Idol contest is open to youths from 11 to 16 years of age. The schedule of events will ensure that participants have the opportunity to perform four times, with the finale taking place over three days at the 158th Schomberg Agricultural Fair in May.

The next Schomberg Idol will also have the opportunity to represent Schomberg Agricultural Society at local fairs and events throughout the coming year. The contest will be juried by three individuals with musical experience, involvement and/or accomplishments.

The winner of this competition will be awarded numerous prizes, including studio demo recording time, along with the chance to perform at a number of local events, including Arts Society King, Schomberg Community Spirit and Bonfire Night, Main Street Christmas, the Nobleton Victoria Day Fair and Schomberg Agricultural Spring Fair.

The premier showcase for the competition will be Dec. 1 at Main Street Christmas in Schomberg.
