Arrest warrant issued in King homicide investigation

Investigators from the York Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have been granted a warrant for the arrest of a 46-year-old man in connection with the discovery of three bodies in a burned-out van located in King Oct. 14.

Police report they sought the warrant last Tuesday for the arrest of Bao Mac, 46, of Toronto, for three counts of first degree murder in connection with the murder of his 47-year-old wife, Zu Ling He, the body of an adult female and the body of a female child discovered in the van that was found of the 7th concession, north of the 16th Sideroad.

Police added the suspect remains in critical condition in hospital, still sedated and recovering from serious burns he sustained in the incident. Investigators plan to execute the warrant for his arrest when he regains consciousness.

A post mortem examination took place Oct. 18 at the Centre of Forensic Sciences, positively identifying He.

Due to the condition of the other two bodies, positive identification is still expected to take some time, and may rely on DNA testing. Police remain unable to locate the man's 22-year-old stepdaughter and four-year-old daughter.

The cause of death for all three was determined to be gunshot wounds.

A man asked a local resident to call 9-1-1 through an intercom system at her residence at about 11:40 p.m. Oct. 14. When police and fire personnel arrived at the 7th Concession and 16th Sideroad area, they discovered a van fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire was extinguished, three deceased persons were discovered inside.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them at 1-866-876- 5423, ext. 7865, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com
