Community Safety Village is haunted Ghosts and goblins will soon be taking over the Community Safety Village of York Region in an effort to seek out tricks or treats at the third annual Halloween in the Village. It will run this Saturday (Oct. 27) from 4 until 7 p.m. York Regional Police promise children will have a "spook-tacular" time at this event. A haunted house, games and a craft station are just some of the activities children under 12 will enjoy, in addition to the opportunity to trick or treat in a safe environment in the miniature village. Children and their parents are encouraged to attend in costume. Police will be present to pass along Halloween safety tips to trick-or-treaters of all ages. Admission to the event is free, but participants are asked to bring a canned food donation for the York Region Food Bank Network. Police would like to remind all residents that Halloween is great fun for children of all ages. It is the responsibility of us all to ensure they return home safe, and remind all drivers to be cautious and alert. Tips for kids • Travel in a group or with an adult. • Wear bright, reflective clothing in order to be visible. • Watch for cars and cross streets at intersections. • Have candy inspected before eating it.
