York police investigating three bodies found in King York Regional Police are still looking into three suspicious deaths which occurred in King late Sunday night. Police said they responded to a call at about 11:40 p.m. at an address in the area of the 7th Concession and the 16th Sideroad, after a 9-1-1 call was made by a resident in the area at the request of a man asking for assistance. When officers arrived, they located the man suffering from burns to his body and a van fully engulfed in flames. Officers attempted to put out the fire, but were unsuccessful. The flames were eventually extinguished by King Township Fire Services. Investigators originally thought the bodies of two people were in the van, but they reported Tuesday that a third had been found. Detective Angelo De Lorenzi of the homicide bureau updated reporters Tuesday afternoon, commenting the three bodies were all the back seat of the van. He called it "a horrific sight." He said they will need DNA and dental records to identify the victims, adding he couldn't tell reporters their age or sex. A 46-year-old man, with third degree burns to his arms, is in hospital. De Lorenzi said police are with him, but he's not under a suicide watch. He added the man is not known to police, and it will be three to five days before they will be able to talk to him. He may be a victim. Police said the man has been connected to an address in Scarborough, where a marijuana grow operation was apparently located. They added they have not been able to locate the man's wife, four-year-old daughter or 22-year-old stepdaughter, who they believe were living at the address. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau at 1-866- 287-5025, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com., or e-mail the Homicide Bureau at homicide@yrp.ca |
