Annual studio sale at Kingcrafts coming early in November Kingcrafts Arts Guild The 53rd annual Kingcrafts studio sale will be Nov. 17, 18, 24 and 25, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be many unique, hand-made articles are for sale, including jewelry, pottery, stained glass, needlework and paintings, plus much much more. They have all been made by local artisans who are hard at work putting the final touches on their pieces. Catch the display at the Maple Library until Oct. 30. A workshop is being offered by Kingcrafts, which will focus on designing a one-of-a-kind necklace using semi-precious stones. Participants will learn basic design theory and will experiment with the design elements of colour, patterning and balance to create a unique stone necklace. The workshop will be held at Kingcrafts Studio at 12936 Keele St., in King City, Oct. 29, from 7 to 10 p.m. The instructor will be Nancy Jones. The fee will be $30 plus materials (material costs will vary depending on stones selected). A wide variety of semiprecious stones will be available for purchase at the workshop, which will be limited to eight participants to allow for individual instruction. King Bible Church Seniors Submitted by Lisa Lethangue The Seniors Overtimers group presents a Tropical Paradise Mystery Tour.Join us Nov. 13 at 8:45 a.m. as we depart from King Bible Church on a deluxe highway coach for a day of mystery. All Saints' Anglican Church Submitted by Claire Alexander This Sunday (Oct. 21), we welcome guest preachers who have served All Saints' in the past, Canon Don Beatty and Rev. Neville Bishop. Come for the BCP Eucharist at 8 a.m. in the chapel; or the BAS Eucharist with music at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. Oct. 28, we'll welcome back Rev. Anthony Jemmott to continue 150th anniversary celebrations. Oct. 23, and alternate weeks, crafters may bring UFOs (unfinished forgotten objects) to encourage one another in working on their projects. Meet in the nursery from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for tea and a cookie, and make new friends. Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m., come to discuss Ephesians chapter 6, for the closing of the series. Drop off wrapped hard candies, small new toys, socks or hygiene items (no toothpaste allowed this year), or items for older boys, such as small, safe tools. Thrill children, often orphaned by AIDS, now surviving with elderly grandparents. Mark your calendar for Nov. 4, when Bishop George Elliott leads us in worship, on our sesquicentennial anniversary, at the 10:30 a.m. Eucharist. If anyone is new to the community, King City United is one block south of the King Road and one block east of Keele Street, at 50 Elizabeth Grove. Sunday morning services, including Sunday school for the children, start at 10. a.m. The children participate in the early part of the morning services and then to Sunday school to learn all about the Bible in the chil- dren's way. Fellowship and refreshments follow the services at 11 a.m. for all Next week's reflection is to be Hope is A Good Friend of Mine, based on 1 Peter 1:3-9.All are invited to gather in the parlour after worship to discuss this further. 2008 United Church calendars may now be ordered by adding your name to the list in the auditorium or by calling the church office. The cost is $6 each. The deadline for ordering is Oct. 29. In last week's column there was an error on the date of the next contemporary service.It should have read Oct. 21 (this Sunday). This monthly contemporary service is done with a quartet of professional musicians, playing and singing with congregation, in praise and prayer of God's music. The children take a part in this musical service and everyone comes away with God's happiness in their hearts and a smile on their faces. Our Youth Group is to be meeting Oct. 19, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the King Township Food Bank in Kettleby. They will be sorting and packing boxes.Drop off and pick up will be at the Food Bank. Apple Pies Day is coming Nov. 2 and 3, at the church.Watch for the sign-up sheets to order pies and to help make them.You may come into the auditorium Friday, after 1 p.m., to order your pies, as long as there are pies to sell. They go fast. It is that time now for the United Men's Chorus rehearsals, Monday nights at 7:30 p.m., getting ready for the Church's famous annual roast beef dinner and entertainment. The sale is to support the rebuilding of the school that was destroyed in a fire at Pikangikium,Ojibew, 100 kilometres north of Red Lake. There are 860 students with no school to attend.They are affiliated with the United Church and King City United Church will work hard to help and support these children.There is to be no pricing on the "everything," but a donation from each sale will be very much appreciated. Seniors' euchre The top player among the ladies at the Oct. 5 euchre session at King City Seniors' Centre was Dorothy Colutier (66 points), followed by Milla Eigelshoven and Barb Male (63) and Betty Simmonds (49). Tops at the men's tables was Chuck Hansford (73), followed by Jenifer Merritt (66) and Dorothy Gillies (44). Draw winners were Chuck Hansford, Rena Gordon and Joyce Glass. The next euchre evening will be Oct. 19, starting at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.
