Another Schomberg Idol will be named

Due to the overwhelming success of the first year of the Schomberg Idol, the Schomberg Agricultural Society has announced it will be hosting the second annual Idol competition.

Last year's Schomberg Idol finalists have had a busy summer.

Laura Grossi, the first Schomberg Idol, did an excellent job of representing the society throughout the summer, entertaining the community at various events and in King and surrounding areas. She competed in and won the Caledon Idol competition as well.

Runner-up Sarah Forestieri has been performing at events and preparing for her Royal Music Academy exams. She entered and was very successful in the long and highly competitive CNE Rising Star Competition, coming in as second runner-up. She will be returning for the Schomberg Idol competition.

Michala Todd, the other runner-up, spent the summer performing at Orphanage for Africa, a benefit concert, and several other events. She is currently in the radio KX96 competitions. She has been working with a song writer in developing original material.

Singers between the ages of 11 to 16 are encouraged to sign up for the Schomberg Idol Competition. This year's competition will be limited to 10 singers, so don't wait. Go to www.schombergidol.com to download the participation form, which is also available at the Arcadia Academy of Music in Nobleton and Bolton locations, area libraries, schools and grocery stores.

All interested contestants are asked to carefully read the participation form and submit a completed copy by either mail, to Box 324, Schomberg, L0G 1T0; by e-mail directed to schombergidol@yahoo.ca; or call (905) 936-5548 to arrange for the application to be picked up. The registration deadline is Nov. 11, and the first Idol meeting is scheduled for Nov. 17.
