Euchre starts again Oct. 3 was the first day of the new season for the Happy Times Euchre Club. The top player for the day, among the ladies, was Mary Duggan, followed by Mary Hammett, Irene Palmer and Peggy Johnston and Lillian Rankin (tied). The lucky draw winner was Ethel Wilson. At the men's tables, things were led by Andy Patterson, followed by Helen Groombridge, Bill Groombridge and Walter Hill and Blake Coulter (tied). The winner of the lucky draw was Al Jackson. In Oct. 10 play, the ladies were led by Gloria Clarkson, followed by Shirley Stonehouse, Betty Wilson and Elaine Ruddy, with Ethel Wilson winning the lucky draw. On the men's cards, the top player was Blance Crane, followed by Murray Edwards, Murray Kaake and Bill Groombridge. The lucky draw was won by Ken Hodgson. The 50/50 draw winners were Mildred Jessop and Walter Hill. Schomberg United Church The congregation at Schomberg United Church will be marking its 159th anniversary Oct. 21. The special guest at the 11:15 a.m. service will be renowned humour motivational speaker Selina Frederick, who will talk of laughter with God, and is expected to bring tears to eyes. She is one who believes that church doesn't have to be dull, but can be exciting and humourous. All are welcome to attend this fun-filled service of worship. Lunch and fellowship will follow. 90th birthday Friends and family are invited to help Jack Church celebrate his 90th birthday at an open house this Saturday (Oct. 20).
