York Regional Police hosting parade for Children's Wish Foundation York Regional Police will be hosting a Wishmaker Parade this Saturday (Oct. 13) at the Community Safety Village of York Region. The Wishmaker Parade - Walk for Wishes is a fundraising event for The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada. The pledgebased, three-kilometre walk will take place in more than 100 communities across Canada in October. Money will also be raised at this event by raffling off two mountain bikes with tickets priced at $5 each or three for $10. The bicycles were donated by the Tim Hortons stores in Richmond Hill and Newmarket. There is also a chance to win a trip to Europe from Air Transat for every $100 raised. This will be a fun-filled family day and children and parents are encouraged to dress up in their favourite costumes and enjoy complimentary activities such as face painting, large bouncy toys, arts and crafts and refreshments. Members of York Regional Police will be participating in this event with a number of teams and they have issued a challenge to their community partners to participate with them. The Community Safety Village is at 3291 Stouffville Rd. inside Bruce's Mill Conservation Area in Whitchurch - Stouffville. Registration for the event will start at 10 a.m. and opening ceremonies will take place at 11 a.m. The parade will make its way through the conservation area shortly thereafter and the celebration will continue at noon. Since its inception in 1984, The Children's Wish Foundation has worked with the community to provide children with high-risk, lifethreatening illnesses the opportunity to realize their most heartfelt wish. The Foundation has fulfilled nearly 13,000 wishes and is proud that is has never denied a wish to an eligible child.
