Wild lose their only game last week
By Bill Rea

The King Wild took a long trip to Temiscaming Friday, and they did not receive a very hospitable welcome.

Their Royal hosts sent them home on the wrong end of a 6-1 final score.

Head Coach Paul Hampton later said the long journey didn't play a big part in the outcome of the match.

"The ride was a lot better than the game," he remarked. "They've got a really good team; well coached."

The Wild were actually able to take the early lead, thanks to a goal from Dan Douglas, but Hampton said the Royals took charge, and ended up out shooting his men almost 2-1.

Penalties didn't help the cause much either, as

Hampton observed they played most of the second period short-handed. Four of the Temiscaming goals came on the power play.

The Wild are currently tied for fourth place in the Greater Metro Junior A standings with nine points, although the Bradford Rattlers have the edge, having played only five games to the Wild's seven.

A holiday weekend may be coming, but the Wild players are going to be busy.

They will be travelling to Gravenhurst Friday for a match against the South Muskoka Shield, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Then they are home Saturday night to entertain the Innisfil Lakers, starting at 8:30 p.m. in King City.

Sunday will see the Wild heading north again to Sturgeon Falls to face the Nipissing Alouettes. That match will start at 2 p.m.

Monday will not be a holiday for the teams. They will be hosting the Tamworth Cyclones, starting at noon.
