Some people still not getting the message about seat-belts

York Regional Police have wrapped up their fall seat-belt campaign, and have concluded some drivers still need a reminder that seatbelts save lives.

During the one-week safety campaign that ran from Sept. 22 to Sept. 30, seat-belt spot checks were set up across York. In total, 300 drivers and 17 passengers were charged with not wearing their seatbelts. In addition, two drivers were charged with failing to ensure passengers in their vehicles under the age of 16 were either wearing a seat-belt or were secured in a child car seat or booster seat. So far this year, 3,558 people have been charged with seat-beltrelated offences in York.
