Animals will be blessed at All Saints' tommorow , weather permitting The reddening fall leaves glow in the sun, turning our hearts toward harvest and all our blessings. Come this Thanksgiving Sunday (Oct. 7), as we celebrate the harvest in a decorated church, with guest preaching by Rev. Gillian Ball, returning soon to ministry in Mexico. Come for the early BCP (spoken) service of Holy Eucharist at 8 a.m. in our 150-year-old chapel. Visitors to the second service will enjoy our rebuilt organ at 10:30 a.m. in the church, where concurrent nursery care and Sunday school for children up to Grade 6, is provided. Thank you for your support at the Choral Evensong Sunday in dedicating the refurbished organ in memory of Charles and Janet Burns. Tomorrow night (Thursday), at 7:30 p.m., a Blessing of the Animals takes place on the lawn, weather-permitting. In remembering all our blessings, the Outreach Committee reminds us that the shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child will be sent on their way Nov. 5. With our 150th anniversary, we are doubling last year's goal to the round number of 150 boxes, and need everyone's shopping expertise. In Third World countries, your shoebox may be the only gift in life that children living under war, disease, and natural disaster will ever receive. In turn, the children's boxes open the way to further permanent gifts to the community, such as wells with pure drinking water, schools and medical centres. In 2006, Canada sent 738,079 of the 7.6 million boxes collected worldwide. You don't have to do a whole box. If you see a good sale of a quantity of topquality Laurentian and regular pencils, pencil sharpeners, and other school supplies, drop them off at the church. Or, look for hygiene items (no toothpaste allowed this year), brushes and good combs, tennis balls, toys, and wrapped hard candies. All Saints' Anglican Church, at 12935 Keele St. in King City, is a few doors south of King Road. Join us Sunday, surrounded by the glories of the harvest, as we give thanks to God for all life's blessings.
