Come out for Terry Fox Sunday
Once again, King City is hosting the King Township Terry Fox Run this Sunday (Sept. 16).
This will be one of many events taking place all over. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to participate. Last year, $12.7 million was raised for cancer research in Ontario alone.
The Terry Fox Run was first held in King City in 1984, and there were three participants. Over the years, that number has increased and since then, King Township has raised more than $210,000 for cancer research.
The Terry Fox Run will be held in Wellesley Park, at the northwest corner of Keele Street and King Sideroad, in King City from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The run offers a variety of routes for all participants - one, five and 10 kilometres, which may be covered by running, walking, use of a wheelchair or bicycle. For more information, contact (905) 833-2697.
It seems that everyday, more and more people are being affected by cancer, having personal experiences, family members and (or) friends who have battled this disease. We have to help out where we can. We have to take the time to remember those who have been affected by cancer, to participate and carry on Terry's Marathon of Hope. Each of us has a single dream, but together we have a world of hope that someday, there will be a cure for cancer.
Come out Sunday and be part of Terry's dream.
