Plants on sale at Kettleby Fair "Are you going to Kettleby Fair; Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme? Remember there is a plant sale there, of perennials so pretty and fine." The Nobleton - King City Horticultural Society is having its fall plant sale at Kettleby Fair this Saturday (Sept. 8), from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are asking members and friends for donations of garden plants. We are hoping that these plants can be potted up this Wednesday and Thursday, or early Friday, so they will have time to perk up and look fresh for the sale. Please no goutweed (aegopodium), bugleweed (ajuga), periwinkle (vinca), fast-spreading tall perennial artemisias (wormwood) or other invasive plants. If novice gardeners unsuspectingly buy and put one of these types of plants in their gardens, the results could turn them against gardening altogether. There are three drop off locations for plants: Blair Day at 29 Fisher St., King City; Ruta Schupe at 5579 King Rd., Nobleton; and for people to the north, Bob and Patsy Martin at 280 Kettleby Rd. It will be almost impossible to bring plants Saturday as Kettleby's main street will be closed off early in the morning (you will need to walk or take the shuttle bus to reach the fair grounds). If you have plants and can't get them to any of the drop-off depots, please call Roz Elson at (905) 833- 3206, Jill Gelatly at (905) 833-5721 or Kate Agosta at (905) 951-1912 before Saturday. While we won't "promise to buy you a bunch of blue ribbons to tie up your bonnie brown hair," we hope to welcome you to our plant sale and Kettleby Fair. Yard sale at St. Alban's The annual yard sale at St. Alban's Anglican Church is set for this Saturday (Sept. 8). It will run from 8:30 until 11 a.m. The church is at 13162 Highway 27, in Nobleton. |
