Victor Carvalho to carry Family Coalition flag in York - Simcoe Victor Carvalho said he's a candidate in next month's provincial election because he wants people to have the chance to vote according to what they believe. The 61-year-old operator of Stella Maris Marina north of Newmarket will be running for the Family Coalition Party in York - Simcoe. Carvalho is a veteran campaigner, having run for the party in Durham ridings in the last federal and provincial elections, and he previously ran twice federally for the Christian Heritage Party. "I'm not a professional politician," he declared. "I'm just doing this to give people an opportunity to vote their conscience." Born in India, Carvalho taught in Catholic schools for nine years before moving into the contracting business. He is married with five children, and the Carvalhos were named Family of the Year in Barrie in 2000. Carvalho wasn't very interested in commenting on his chances in the coming campaign "We do our bit and leave the rest to the Lord," he remarked. "I go into this to give people the opportunity to realize there are votes out there that mean a lot to all parties," he added. |
