King City Seniors' Centre

A Pot Luck Luncheon will be held this Friday (Sept. 7) commencing at noon. Corn and hot dogs will be provided and we would appreciate receiving salads and desserts from those attending. Come on out and enjoy good food and friendship.

Unfortunately, there were a couple of errors in our recent Newsletter. The Tuesday Bid Euchre is presided over by Joan Dowden at (905) 773-3700. Also, the Wednesday afternoon Bridge commences at 1 p.m. For further information, contact Iva Hilliard at (905) 859-5290.

Our Newsletter editor was given incorrect information and we apologize for these oversights. However, we all do our best, and minor "goofs" such as these are bound to happen.

Should any member have a comment or suggestion regarding any of the Centre's activities, please contact the King City Seniors' Board Chairman Vince Cancelli at (905) 833-6305, and your concerns will be discussed at the board meetings.

Do join the friendly congregation at All Saints' on Keele Street in King City, with the Sunday services of Holy Eucharist at 8 in the chapel, and the new time of 10:30 a.m. in the church.

Sunday school resumes this Sunday (Sept. 9), under the leadership of Celia Abraham, and all Sunday school children, young people, and their families are invited to stay after church for a welcome-back barbecue lunch. Check out the dates for exciting Friday monthly youth group activities for Grades 8 to 12, starting Sept. 14, and Grades 1 to 7 Sept. 21, at 6:30 p.m.

Look over study group options open to everyone in the community, for the small group of your choice. Starting Sept. 12, weekly Wednesday morning events offer a prayer time at 9 a.m. in the choir area (come and go when you wish). At 10 a.m., a one-hour discussion with shared leadership will review Scripture readings in the Lectionary for the following Sunday. Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m., a sixweek study in Ephesians follows a hot soup snack. As well, an Alpha group plans to meet for supper in a home, followed by a video and discussion.

Sept. 30, All Saints' welcomes guests and newcomers to the community to stay for one of our famous potluck lunches, followed by the annual Vestry meeting. Then, at 7:30 p.m., enjoy the sounds of our newly refurbished and expanded pipe organ in a very special musical evening led by Director of Music Michael Leach, with Choral Evensong and an organ dedication in memory of Charles and Janet Burns.

All Saints' grieves with the community in the August deaths and loss experienced by two well-known families: with Joan Goulding, in the loss of her husband Harry Aug. 13, and with the Rector's Warden Fiona Cowles, in the loss of her husband Michael P. Cowles Aug. 21. Please continue frequently to offer your spiritual and emotional support to these families.

All Saints' Anglican Church at 12935 Keele St. in King City, is a few doors south of King Road. A nursery is provided during the 10:30 a.m. Eucharist. September office hours are Tuesday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you know of a need or would like prayer, please contact the church office, or Rev. Nicola Skinner, at (905) 833-5432, or (EOL). Our new Web site is a t www.allsaintskingcity.com
