Kettleby Fair goes this Saturday There are a number of ways to describe the annual Kettleby Fair, but the word "fun" is probably the most applicable. And that promises to be the case this coming Saturday (Sept. 8) as the 31st edition of the fair goes, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the hamlet. There will be a lot of the regular attractions that people have come to expect at the fair, such as children's games, flyball dogs, strolling clowns and more. But Andrea Loeppky, one of the organizers, reported there will be a couple of new features. Members of the Nobleton - King City Horticultural Society will be on hand, selling potted perennials. The folks from Pine Farms Orchard will be selling fresh-baked pies, as well as preserves and freshly picked apples. Members of the Nobleton Schomberg District Chamber of Commerce will be kicking off their Shop Locally campaign. And Loeppky said there will be some new faces this year at the various crafters' booths. The parade is slated to begin at noon, and children are welcome to dress up their dogs to take part. The stage show will open at 10:20 a.m. and the entertainment will start with Kevin Kelly providing easy listening music on guitar, to be followed by a demonstration of Morris dancing. Township councillors and other dignitaries will officially open the fair at the stage at 12:30 p.m., to be followed by more entertainment. Schomberg Idol Laura Grossi is scheduled to start performing at 12:45, followed by Lofty the Magician, who will entertain from 1 until 1:45. Children's entertainer Kobbler Jay will perform after that, and the Kelly will return with more music at 2:30. The Morris dancers will put on another show at 3, and Schomberg singer Geoff Perry will head up the stage entertainment from 3:30 on. Kettleby Fair organizers always luck out when it comes to the weather, and Loeppky figures this year shouldn't be any different, as she is expecting a fine day. "It ought to be, considering it's been so beautiful a summer," she remarked. |
