WENDOVER UNVEILS NEW TRACK
Wendover Training Centre in Schomberg unveiled its new half-mile training track for thoroughbreds recently with a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by Mayor Margaret Black. Joining her were former property owner Frank Hayhoe, Anthony DiBatista of Clearway Construction Inc. of Vaughan which built the track, Paul O'Sullivan, holding son Jack, and Melanie O'Sullivan, the managers of the business, Marian MacDonald and Eric MacDonald, the owners of the property, four-time Queen's Plate winning jockey Robin Platt of Schomberg, Charlotte Sykes, Councillor Linda Pabst, Luke O'Sullivan and Karen Leeming of TravelRight Surfaces which put in the unique, all-weather surface. The surface is the first of its kind for thoroughbred stables in Canada. McGuire Fencing of Egbert installed the fencing and the track safety rail.
