Cober hastens to kill rumours about Schomberg Community Hall

By Bill Rea

There's a rumour making the rounds in Schomberg that Township Councillor Bill Cober wants stopped.

There are no plans to sell Schomberg Community Hall.

He told his colleagues Monday night that he had heard from a constituent, asking about plans to sell the facility on Main Street in the village and plans to redevelop the site.

"The Schomberg Community hall is not up for sale," Cober asserted. "It has never, ever, ever been considered by this council."

Councillor Linda Pabst was able to take that even further back, stating sale of the facility has never been discussed in the 13 years she's been on council.

Cober stressed he wanted to make sure the rumour is stopped before it goes any farther.

"One of the things we can do as elected officials is make sure misinformation is corrected," he commented after Monday's meeting.
