King's finest artists were on display over weekend
The creative surroundings of more than 20 of King Township's best artists, along with many of their creations, were on display over the weekend as Studio Tour King closed out Arts Festival King. A wide range of media were included in the tour, and the abstract ceramic sculptures of Laskay resident Christine Paige added their flair.
The lands around Brett Davis's studio in the northern part of the township is populated with his bronze sculptures, including his newest creation, which he called Jack in the Pulpit, "probably the most natural piece I've done," he said.
Phyllis Vernon was showing several of her watercolour on canvas paintings. She said these works are rare and difficult to create.
King City area artist Marianne Broome was standing beside one of her newest creations, an acrylic painting entitled Iris Hearts.
Kettleby area painter Andrea Leoppky was fond of this acrylic work of hers, depicting the 19th Sideroad looking west to Keele Street in the autumn.
Diane Styrno has her paintings displayed on the walls throughout her Schomberg home. These two acrylic creations are called Yellow Bouquet and Summer Flowers.
The studio of Phil Chadwick is filled with the accumulated creations of the 44 years he's been an artist.
