John and Helen Sheardown celebrate 50 years

Speed limit on 11th dropping to 60

      King's 11th Concession has developed a reputation of being something of a speedway, but speeds are going to soon drop. Township councillors discussed the issue at length last Monday, and finally agreed the speed limit should be a consistent 60 km-h from King Road to Highway 9.

$1,000 grant to update photo album

      An album of old photographs taken around King was published in 1978, and the King Township Historical Society has decided it should be updated. King councillors recently agreed to provide a $1,000 grant to the effort out of the Township's community grant program.

ANOTHER FEATHER FOR KING BREWERY
      Brew master Phil DiFonzo and his wife Sheila were serving their King Pilsner at the Soiree Sunday night at Seneca College. The Pilsner came in for more honours earlier this month when it won a gold medal at beer contest, which was held as part of the Barrie Brews and BBQ Festival July 7.

      King resident Mary Ventrella, along with Carol Nichol, will be hosting an art and pottery sale this wekend. It will be at 15095 Weston Rd., north of King Road.and will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
