Lions hosting golf tournament to raise funds for various projects Golfers, mark Sept. 15 on your calendars. The Lions Noblekids Charity Golf Tournament is going again this year. As the name says, the event is now a charity event with all proceeds earmarked for kids organizations in and around Nobleton, including Cubs and Scouts, Brownies and Guides, Minor Baseball and the kids Christmas skating party with Santa to name a few. The tournament will be held at The Highlands Golf Club in Bradford (25 minutes north of Nobleton). We are limited to 20 teams or 80 golfers, so contact a Lions club member soon to reserve a spot, or a team. Corporate hole sponsorships are available, and team sponsorships are also welcome. All will be publicly acknowledged. Contact a Lions club member to sign up. The entry fee is $100 per person, which includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, a meal of steak or chicken, and all golfers will receive a gift. For details contact Ray Castator at (905) 859-4138. The Lions club is seeking new members at this time. If you are interested in helping your community become a better place to live while having lots of fun, please call Greg Hill at (905) 859-0895. Bible Fun Camp at St. Paul's Church It isn't too late to join us at Son Force Kids Bible Fun Camp. Even if you missed Monday and Tuesday, you can still join us for the rest of the week. We are in full swing with this fun-filled program of music, crafts, Bible stories, snacks and games. If you are between the ages of four and 12, you (and your friends) can join us in orbit between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Join us this Sunday (July 15) at 9:45 a.m. as we welcome Rev. Allyson McLeod to the pulpit once again. Nursery care (for children five years and under) is provided during the service and Sunday school (for adults only) follows at 11 a.m. For more information about any of our activities, please phone the church office at (905) 859-0843. Horticulture The Nobleton - King City Horticultural Society wants to "lead you down the garden path;" in fact several garden paths. This coming Sunday (July 15), the society members host their annual garden tour. This is a rare chance to see local private gardens, most of which are not open to the public at any other time. Garden tour tickets at $10 each are available in advance at Nobleton Pharmasave Pharmacy and Primrose Garden Centre, both on Highway 27 north of the King Road in Nobleton, and also at Crawford Wells on Keele Street at King Road in King City and Black Forest Garden Centre on Keele Street, just south of the Lloydtown - Aurora Road. Tickets will be available at the same price on the day of the tour at each participating garden. Entrance to the gardens is by ticket only and your ticket must be shown at each garden visited. Now get out a sun hat, sun screen and comfortable walking shoes, as we know you will be thoroughly enchanted by each garden. Be sure to bring along a notepad and pen to jot down plant names and garden ideas. More information can be obtained from tour co-ordinators Maria Pedersen at (905) 833-2146 and Blair Day at (905) 833-5173 or check our Web site at www altflora.com/nobleton |
