York to install fluorescent signs for school zones

York Regional council recently endorsed a plan to install fluorescent yellow green signs in school zones to increase visibility in these high pedestrian traffic areas.

The signs will be installed in addition to, or in certain instances, in place of the traditional blue and white signs. The new colour will create uniformity with other local jurisdictions that have switched to the new fluorescents, as well as increase visibility in low light conditions.
