The York Regional Police Diversity and Cultural Resources Bureau invite residents to the third annual national Multiculturalism Day celebration tonight (Wednesday).
The federal government, by Royal Proclamation, officially recognized June 27 as Canadian Multiculturalism Day in 2002, as an opportunity to celebrate Canada's diversity, commitment to democracy, equality and mutual respect and to appreciate the contributions that various multicultural groups and communities make to Canadian society. It is a celebration of the country's cultural richness and diversity.
This will be the third year York police have hosted this special community celebration. It will give residents an insight into the vast multiculturalism that exists within York Region.
The celebration will take place between 6:30 and 8 p.m. in the Community Room at the 5 District Headquarters, at 8700 McCowan Rd., in Markham.
Everyone is welcome. Cake and light refreshments will be served.
