Sign the book of thanks for troops The King Township Public Libraries is still inviting residents to come out and sign a book of tribute for Canadian Forces personnel serving in Afghanistan. The book was started last month at Schomberg Fair, and Library CEO Murray McCabe announced it is at the Nobleton branch this week, and then will be moved to Ansnorveldt. He has also said Schomberg resident Lt.- Cmdr. Bob Gwalchmai will be arranging for the book to be sent to the base at Kandahar. The issue was raised at Monday's Township council meeting. Councillor Jack Rupke urged residents to sign the book and possibly include a message of support. He stressed this need not be considered a statement of support for Canadian participation in the Afghanistan operation, but more support for the work the individual service people are doing there. "We appreciate the services and he sacrifices they are making," he remarked. |
